Paolo Mohovich

Choreographer

Paolo Mohovich is the Artistic director of Palcoscenico Danza in Turin, and was director of the Esperia Ballet for thirteen years. He is considered by critics to be one of the most original and musical Italian choreographers of formalist contemporary dance. He began his studies in Turin with Sara Acquarone and subsequently in Cannes with Rosella Hightower, José Ferran and Edward Cook to perfect himself at the Dance Works in London and at the Cuballet in Havana. As a dancer,Paolo worked at the Ballet de Victor Ullate, the Ballet de Zaragoza and the Balletto di Toscana, companies where he performed the works of Hans Van Manen, Uwe Sholtz, William Forsythe, George Balanchine, Mauro Bigonzetti, Leonide Massine etc. As a choreographer, in addition to the Esperia Ballet, he created choreographies for Dantzaz Konpainia, Maggiodanza, Balletto di Toscana, Ballet de Zaragoza, Tulsa Ballet, Ballet Nacional Sodre Uruguay, Ballet de la Generalitat Valenciana, Miami Contemporary and Dance Company, Maximum Dance Company , BalletXtreme and Eko Dance International Project etc. Among the awards received: the 1st prize for choreography of the Prix Volinine in Paris in 1995 and 1997, the Salerno Danza Italian choreography prize 2001, the Danza&Danza Prize 2010 for the best Italian choreographic project. Furthermore, Paolo Mohovich was the winner of the Maggioranza short time platform. In 2012 he choreographed the opera "La Cenerentola" for Rai directed by Carlo Verdone, broadcast worldwide.

Pedro Lozano

Choreographer

Pedro Lozano Gomez is a choreographer and dancer from Barcelona. Moved by a passion to interpret and create at a very young age. He began studying dance professionally at the age of 13 and was invited, in 1999, as a guest dancer for the production of the Nutcracker at the Ballet de Zaragoza, Spain. After winning first prize at the dance competition of Ciudad de Castellon, he left Spain at the age of 19 to move to Paris and begin his professional career at the Jeune Ballet de France in 2001. He then began exploring more modern dance at the Nordharzerstadbuntheater in Germany where he worked for two years. In the hopes to remain polyvalent, both classical and modern, he accepted a contract at the Ballet du Capitole in Toulouse, France directed by Nanette Glushack where he spent four years dancing and creating works. In 2007, he joined the Royal Ballet of Flanders in Belgium where he worked under the direction of Kathryn Bennetts and then Assis Carreiro until 2013. Pedro then decided to focus on his creations, signing choreographies in Belgium, Italy, Germany and the United States. During the Coviv19 crisis, he kept himself creative by working with dancers around the world for a limited series of solos and duets called « Room series choreography ». On June 20th of 2020, he won first prize at the Online Choreographic Competition. The jury was formed by José Martinez, Francesco Ventriglia, Philippe Kratz, Olivier Dubois, Matteo Levaggi and Fabio Crestale. In 2021 he created a solo dance film for Fernando Montaño, former soloist of the Royal Opera House in London, called Ounce of Found. The film has since then, been selected for the Espoo DigiDance International Festival in Finland, and can be streamed as well on treycool.com. In February 2022, his latest creation titled DARK HORSE was released. Being part of the international project called Room to Room, held by Catarina Carvalho and Ana Maria Lucaciu. Since then, he’s been working on new works for the upcoming seasons.

André Cameron

Musician

André Cameron received his diploma in viola from the North Carolina School of the Arts and his Batchelor of Music from the New England Conservatory of Music. He did his solo debut in Rome in 1977. After seven years in the La Scala Orchestra in Milan under Maestro Claudio Abbado, Cameron joined the Gulbenkian Orchestra in Lisbon. Cameron has performed in chamber music and as soloist in Rome, Milan, Paris, London, New York, Boston, etc. In orchestral concerts he has performed in the world's great halls including the Philharmonie in Berlin, Carnegie Hall in New York, Theatre des Champs Elysées in Paris, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, NHK Hall in Tokyo, the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Sala São Paulo, Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, Teatro alla Scala in Milan, etc. He has played under the following Maestros; Claudio Abbado, Lorin Naazel, Carlos Kleiber, Riccardo Muti, Carlo Maria Giulini, Seiji Ozawa, Riccardo Chailly, George Prêtre, Wolfgang Sawallisch, etc.

Robert Ashby

Musician

Robert Ashby has played piano for Ballet and Modern Dance classes and rehearsals for many prestigious ballet schools and companies in New York and Europe in the past 43 years. Starting at the American Ballet Theater Company and School, New York under Mikhail Baryshnikov for 20 years and playing for ALL of the open schools in New York including Robert Denvers, Melissa Hayden, STEPS, etc. During this time was permanent guest pianist for 16 years for Marika Besobrasova at the Princesse Grace Academie in Monaco. Guest pianist for the ballet companies in Antwerp(Robert Denvers), La Scala(Patricia Neary), Oslo, Copenhagen, Glasgow, Monte-Carlo, Basel and extensively at the Vienna State Opera Company and School(request of Marika Besobrasova). Pianist for the past 7 years at the Tanzakademie Zürich. Full knowledge of many Dance methods including: Balanchine; Vaganova; Bournonville; Royal Academy London; Martha Graham and José Limon(Modern Dance). Worked with many of the Stars of New York City Ballet from the time of Balanchine's leadership.

Lorenzo Pagano

Lorenzo Pagano is a native of Torino Italy. Currently, he has been a member of the Martha Graham Dance Company in New York for almost a decade embodying the most iconic male Principal Dancer roles of the repertory (Appalachian Spring, Cave of the Heart, Diversion of Angels, Embattled Garden, and Night Journey to name a few). Lorenzo Pagano has also danced starring roles for new works by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Lucinda Childs, Nacho Duato, Andonis Foniadakis, Pontus Lidberg, Bulareyaung Pagarlava, Troy Schumacher, Sonya Tayeh. He has been a Guest Artist for the Lar Lubovitch Dance Company and he is a performer for Movement Migration. He has danced with Paris Opéra former Étoile and Artistic Director Aurélie Dupont in Martha Graham’s Lament and he has partnered Miami City Ballet and Béjart Ballet Principal Dancer Myrna Kamara in Martha Graham’s Moon Duet. Lorenzo Pagano had the honor to perform for the Former Haitian President in Port-au-Prince Haiti and danced in international venues such as New York City Center, Solomon Guggenheim Museum Theatre, Beijing Opera House, Paris Opera Palais Garnier, Teatro Real in Madrid, Alexandrinsky Theatre in San Petersburg and Herodes Atticus in Athens among others. In July 2016 Pagano was honored with the Italian International Dance Award as “Male Rising Star”.

Filipe Portugal

Filipe Portugal began his dance studies at the National Conservatory in Lisbon, Portugal with Georges Garcia as his main mentor. After his graduation he was invited by the director Jorge Salavisa to join the National Ballet of Portugal, starting his career as a professional dancer. Six years later he joined the Ballet Zürich under the direction of Heinz Spoerli, where he became a principal dancer. Between these two companies he had the opportunity to dance pieces by choreographers such as George Ballanchine, John Cranko, Patrice Bart, Jiri Kylian, Matz Ek, William Forsythe, Hans Van Manen, Nacho Duato, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, Marco Goecke, Crystal Pite, Edward Clug, Douglas Lee, Martin Schläpfer, Nils Christie, Heinz Spoerli, Christian Spuck, Vasco Wellenkamp, Rui Lopes Graça and others. He made his choreographic debut in Portugal for a choreographic workshop with the piece „Anfractus”, which was the one chosen to be part of the Company’s repertoire. Later, already in Zurich, he began creating pieces for the Ballet Zürich and the Junior Ballet under the direction of Heinz Spoerli and later Christian Spuck. Always having the enormous support of his directors, he created more than 10 pieces for Zurich, but was also able to start creating abroad. In 2018 he made his North American debut with „Stepping Over” for Ballet Charlotte, which was also performed with Ballet Ireland. For Noverre-Young Choreographers he created for the dancers of the Stuttgart Ballet the piece „Heavy Lightness”.„Thoughts of a Silent Night” created for Shanghai Ballet, „Reecontres” for Cannes Junior Ballet, „Teu Corpo Meu Eco” for Nacional Ballet of Portugal, „Shelter” together with Stephen Delattre for Delattre Dance Company among others. Filipe continues to perform as a principal guest artist for various venues as well as choreographing internationally.
